Wilma R. DeMain

Wilma R. (Doxtator) DeMain, of Bowler, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2016, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison. She was born on Aug. 29, 1952, in Shawano to Benjamin and Bessie (Davids) Doxtator.

Wilma worked at the North Star Mohican Casino-Resort for 23 years as a marketing clerk. She was also a proud member of the Stockbridge-Munsee Community.

Wilma is survived by her two children, Dan (Brenda) Frasch, of Green Bay, and Jennifer Thompson (Steve), of New Holstein, and three wonderful grandchildren. She is further survived by her brothers and sisters, William (Wilma) Doxtator, Irvin Doxtator, Anderson Doxtator, Penny (William) Thomas, Debbie Doxtator and Howard Doxtator, and nieces and nephews.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents and her brother and sisters, Loraine Stilwell, Wilma’s twin brother Wilford, Vickie Millard, Robert Doxtator and Rhonda Brooks.

A memorial service will be held from 2-4 p.m. at the Many Trails Park on June 17, 2016. More information will be available soon.

Michael G. Reedy

Michael G. Reedy, 55, of Gresham, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at his home.

Michael was born on Sept. 29, 1960, in Cuba City to Esther (Buth) Reedy and the late Cecil G. Reedy. He was a graduate of Gresham High School and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Michael was a guidance counselor at Ronald Reagan High School, a college prep school, in Milwaukee.

Michael is survived by his mother, Esther Reedy, of Gresham; two sisters, Lynda (Martin) Shadd, of Raymond, and Karen Reedy, of Gresham; two brothers, Paul (Teresa) Reedy, of Stoughton, and David Reedy, of Shawano; and his special friend, Christie Ebert.

He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil.

A memorial service for Michael will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2016, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Pastor Dan Taylor officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service.

Judith Ann Martin, 71, of Oshkosh, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2016, in Oshkosh.

Judith was born in Shawano on Dec. 11, 1944, the daughter of the late Lawrence Russell and Marilyn (Steglider) Losee.

Judith was united in marriage to Peter A. Martin Sr. He preceded her in death in 1995.

Judith helped people in any way she could. She loved children and opened her home to foster children for 12 years on the Menominee Reservation.

Judith is survived by two children, Anthony M. Russell, of Stanley, and Karmella K. Kitson, of Oshkosh; two grandchildren, Jamie and Lacy Russell; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Peter, and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2016, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. David Barrett officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

Mable K. Chilinski (nee Jordan), 90, of Glasgow, Montana, and formerly of Milwaukee and Shawano, went to join her beloved husband, Albin Chilinski, on Friday, June 10, 2016.

Loving Ma of Dennis Chilinski, Allan (Genny) Chilinski and Denise (Joseph) Garcia. Dear Grandma of Clayton (Melissa) Flood, Lynn, Jon J.J. and Sean. Also survived by other family, friends and soon-to-be expected great-grandchildren.

Mable was a member of Hope Community Church in Shawano.

Visitation will be on Saturday, June 18, 2016, from 9-10:30 a.m. at Prasser-Kleczka Funeral Home, South Suburban Chapel, 6080 S. 27th St., Milwaukee. The Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m., with entombment to follow at Forest Home Cemetery.

Phyllis M. Kopitzke

Phyllis Marie Krumbach Kopitzke, 83, of Bonduel, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 12, 2016, singing hymns with her family.

Phyllis was born in Bonduel on June 27, 1932, the daughter of the late Harry H. and Marie (Strehlow) Yuenger. She attended Bonduel Grade School and Bonduel High School, and graduated from Oshkosh Business College. Phyllis worked for Consolidated Badger Co-op and Wisconsin Finance. In 1953, she was united in marriage to Allen R. Krumbach at the Methodist Church in Bonduel. Allen preceded her in death in 1983. In 1996, Phyllis was united in marriage to Ronald H. Kopitzke. Ron preceded her in death in 2000.

She was a very faithful and spiritual woman. She was member of Zion United Methodist Church in Bonduel, and a former member of Peace Church in Shawano and 1st Presbyterian Church in Lakeland, Florida. She was proud of her faith, and shared it by singing in the choir and teaching Sunday school, and was also a circle member. She was involved in the Women’s Club in Shawano and Meet and Greet in Lakeland, Florida.

Phyllis enjoyed many activities, including playing bridge, cooking and watching all Wisconsin sports teams on TV. She loved music and taught piano for many years. She felt fortunate to have been blessed with many wonderful friends and neighbors, including Vicki O’Brien and family as well as her new friends at the Living Tree.

More than anything, Phyllis loved her family.

Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Ann Marie Holden, of Oconomowoc, and Kay Ellen (Charlie Merrill) Rusch-Merrill, of Greenville; her stepchildren, Diane Hance, Rhonda Hallam and John Kopitzke; her grandsons, Matthew A. Rusch, of Milwaukee, and Erik S. (Milena) Rusch, of North Shores, Michigan; stepgrandchildren, Michael Merrill, of Appleton, Christie (Daryll) Clark, of Appleton; and one great-stepgranddaughter, Madison Merrill. She is further survived by her sisters-in-law, Nancy Strehlow, of Saukville, Maryann Yuenger, of Bonduel, and Geri Yuenger, of Lakeland.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Allen; her second husband, Ron; her parents; and three brothers, Ralph Yuenger, Carl Yuenger and David Strehlow.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2016, at Zion United Methodist Church in Bonduel with the Rev. Dan Nault officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Swedberg-Wendt Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Robert Bray

Robert “Bob” Bray, 85, died May 23, 2016, in Colorado Springs following an illness.

Bob was the son of Lawrence and Bessie (Bird) Bray. He grew up in Waukesha, graduated from Waukesha High School in 1949, graduated from Carroll College in 1953 and served in the U.S. Army. He met his wife, Mary King, at Carroll College and they were married in 1955. Bob is remembered fondly as the alumni director for Carroll College from 1969 to 1983.

After retirement, Bob became an historical interpreter and performed as Benjamin Franklin on stage, in schools and for corporations. Bob was an actor, musician, calligrapher and writer. He loved theater, reading and traveling. His humor, wit, intellect and friendship will be missed by all who knew him.

He leaves his wife of 60 years, Mary (King) Bray; his sons, David (Wendy) and Paul Bray; and his daughter, Martha Wray; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, June 4, at Wauwatosa Presbyterian Church.

Interment was on June 6 at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano.

Betty Teetzen

Betty Teetzen, 72, of Waunakee, died peacefully at Waunakee Manor on May 31, 2016, with her sons by her side. She was born in Shawano on April 26, 1944, to Roy and Louise (Milarch) Nehring.

Betty was employed for 29 years at the Waunakee Tribune as a graphic designer and retired in 2007. She was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church, serving as secretary from its beginning for 1½ years. She taught Sunday school and designed and created many church banners. She was a member for several years in the Waunakee Area Lioness Club holding positions of both secretary and president. Over her lifetime, she enjoyed doing all sorts of arts and crafts, and always enjoyed the company of friends and family. Her greatest pride and joy were her three sons, who were always there for her.

Survivors include her sons, Gerald (Nancy), David and Michael; sister, Susan (Dan) Pulver; brother, Kenneth (Bernice) Nehring; grandson, Garet Teetzen; granddaughter, Corie (Jesse) Simms; great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Sailor, Scout and Sennett Simms; plus many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother and brother, Donald Nehring.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 24, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 710 S. Century Ave., Waunakee. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Diane E. DeBaker

Diane Ethel DeBaker, 68, of Leopolis, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, after a brief illness.

Diane was born in Shawano, on Nov. 12, 1947, the daughter of the late Orin and Geraldine (Cotter) Neuman. On Jan. 21, 1967, she was united in marriage to Joseph DeBaker at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Tigerton.

Diane had a big heart and was always putting others before herself. She enjoyed sewing, reading, shopping and spoiling her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Leopolis.

Diane was a great wife, mother and grandmother, and is survived by her husband of 49 years, Joe; three children, Marsha (Rick) Milhorn, of Gray, Tennessee, Brian (Melissa) DeBaker, of Wittenberg, and Laura (Robert) Geske, of Shawano; “special daughter,” Tonia (Freddy) Lagunes, of Cecil; six grandchildren, Rebecca and Bonnie Milhorn, Roxanne Barber, Hunter, Alana and Mariah Krolow; one great-granddaughter, Miya Pawlowski. She is further survived by her sisters, Linda (David) Fletcher, of Wittenberg, Gloria Keen, of Birnamwood, and Sherry Kielblock, of Scandinavia; her brother, Jeff (Laurie) Neuman, of Eland; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Duane “Butch” Neuman, and one sister, Peggy Potrykus.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2016, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Leopolis with the Rev. Jose Castaneda officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Gresham on Thursday, June 16, 2016, from 4-7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will be held again at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Johnny P. Balke

Johnny Philip Balke, 97, of Shawano, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2016, in Shawano. Born in the town of Belle Plaine on Nov. 28, 1918, Johnny was the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Kelly) Balke.

On Sept. 10, 1949, Johnny was united in marriage to Bernice Rickl in Blenker. Bernice preceded him in death on May 14, 2003.

Johnny loved music and was a part of several different groups, including Johnny’s Rhythm Rangers from 1939-1941, Wisconsin Blues Band from 1941-1947, Melody Mountaineers, and then Johnny & Bernice for 38 years. He was a member of the musicians union and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano.

Johnny is survived by nine children, Dr. Susan Balke, D.O., of Marianna, Arkansas, Maureen (Marcus Johnson) Balke, of Albion, Michigan, Donna (Paul) Döhring, of Lake in the Hills, Illinois, Bonnie Balke, of Fitchburg, John C. (Tammy) Balke, of Brookfield, Jan (Doug) Gruber, of Union, Kentucky, Joseph (Carole) Balke, of Muskego, Beth Rubanka, of Racine, and Judy (Todd) Schmidbauer, of Mukwonago; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and his sister, Marie Kretz, of Antigo, who is 108.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife and musical partner for some 40 years, Bernice; his youngest daughter, Cindy Lou; his parents; and siblings, Lester, Helen, Sadie, Bernice, Frank and Margaret.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Luke Ferris officiating. Inurnment will be in Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be at Swedberg Funeral Home on Thursday, June 23, 2016, from 4-8 p.m. with a parish wake service beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation on Friday at Sacred Heart Church will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Sharon J. Ross

Sharon Jeannine (Olson) Ross, 80, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. She was born on Sept. 7, 1935, in Shawano.

Sharon accomplished many roles during her lifetime, from homemaker to factory worker, from cook to school bus driver. However, her most fulfilling role was as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. Sharon was also an avid knickknack collector and loved to play bingo. Sharon lived her days in Wisconsin (Shawano County/Waupaca County), Alamogordo, New Mexico, and Tucson.

Sharon is survived by her husband of 62 years, Donald Ross; children, Robert (Sandy) Olson, Dawn Ross, Ronald (Kim) Ross, Brenda Valencia, Dennis Ross and Ryan (Laura) Ross; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Darlene Beyer, Duane (Midge) Olson, Delyle Olson, Jerome Olson and Charmaine Olson, wife to Verlyn Olson. Sharon is further survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sharon was proceeded in death by her parents, Alfred and Mildred (Heafs) Olson; sisters and brothers, Donna Krause and husband, Clifford, Norma Grosskreutz and husband, Clifton, May Olson, wife to Delyle Olson, Norman Beyer, husband to Darlene Beyer, Verlyn Olson and Alfred Olson Jr.; son and daughter, Donald Ross Jr. and Leilani Eberly.

A memorial and a celebration of her life will be held at the Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Lunds later this year.

Family and friends may make a memorial contribution in her name to Jerusalem Lutheran Church, c/o Duane Olson, 309 N. Humphrey Circle, Shawano, WI 54166.

A funeral service for LaFern will take place on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at 1 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Neopit. Deacon James Lonick will officiate. Relatives and friends may call at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.

Joyce V. DiUlio

Joyce Victoria DiUlio, 91, passed away on June 9, 2016, in Shawano surrounded by her family.

Joyce was born on Feb. 28, 1925, in Ironwood, Michigan, to the late Ralph and Helmi (Korpela) Hendrickson. Joyce graduated from Ironwood High School, then went to work for the FBI in Washington, D.C, processing the fingerprints of the soldiers entering World War II. Following this, she attended the Layton School of Art in Milwaukee.

On Dec. 26, 1946, Joyce was united in marriage to James DiUlio, of Hurley. They spent the next years in River Falls while Jim obtained his degree and she worked at the university.

Joyce was a homemaker while raising her family in Shell Lake, Birchwood and Spencer. Her family, especially her grandchildren, was most important to her. She loved to paint and sketch, sing, dance, read, work a crossword puzzle and watch the Packers.

Joyce also possessed a wonderful sense of humor and keen wit that remained with her until her death.

She is survived by her children, James DiUlio and Nancy Gray, of Madison, Patricia and Doug Edwardsen, of Rice Lake, Barbara DiUlio-Mann and Randy Mann, of Green Bay, Linda and John Myers, of Shawano. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Carly (Kraig) Reed, Nick (Stephanie Bluhm) Edwardsen, Darren Edwardsen, Alex (Lindy Couwenhoven) Mann, Tony Mann, Bailey Myers, Teddy Myers and Will Myers; four great-grandchildren, Mallory, Jillian, Hannah and Reece; and one brother: William (Pat) Hendrickson, of Bessemer, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James, in 2009; her granddaughter, Catherine Myers; her brother, Arnold; and her sister, Sylvia.

A family memorial celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Angie L. Waupoose-Merino

Angie L. Waupoose-Merino, 40, of Shawano, formerly of Keshena, was called to heaven on Thursday morning, June 16, 2016, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital following a lengthy illness. She battled with poor health to the very end.

Angie was born on May 22, 1976, in Ironwood, Michigan, a daughter of Margaret Escalante and James Waupoose Sr. She attended Menominee Indian High School and later Flandreau High School, graduating in 1994. Following graduation she returned to Keshena, where she was employed at the Menominee Casino. On Sept. 26, 2006, she was united in marriage to Nelson Merino in Keshena. The couple made their home in Shawano. She loved her family and friends. She was a “mother hen” to her entire family. She also enjoyed playing bingo.

Angie is survived by her husband, Nelson Merino Sr., of Shawano; her son, Nelson Merino Jr.; her fur baby, Toby Merino; her mother, Marge (Robert) Escalante, of Shawano; her father, James (Tootsie) Waupoose Sr., of Keshena; her brother, Jimmy (Christine) Waupoose; sisters, Amy Hernandez, of Shawano, Kristy (Space) Wilber, of Zoar, her best friend/sister, Laura “Luvr” Peters, of Green Bay, Tory Gladue, “Wifey,” of Keshena; special nephew, Michael “Honty Boyz” Waupoose; her godsons, Hunter Hawpetoss, of Keshena, and David Hernandez Jr., of Texas; and many more nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by Teddy the hamster and Nino the fur baby.

A funeral Mass for Angie will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Keshena. The Rev. David Barrett will be the celebrant. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at Father David Barrett Hall at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Monday, June 20, 2016, after 5 p.m. until the time of Mass on Wednesday. The family invites anyone who wishes to share stories about Angie to come to the hall on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at 7 p.m.

Dennis W. Cox

Dennis Wayne Cox, born on April 9, 1947, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at the age of 69, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born and raised in Milwaukee, Dennis was drafted into the U.S. Army and stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War.

Dennis married Stephanie Mann in 1975. He worked for AT&T for 25 years until retirement in 1994. They moved to Berry Lake and shared their love of the outdoors for 22 years.

Dennis especially loved the birds of nature, woodworking and pontooning.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Stephanie; brothers, Jim, Fred (Jenean) and Jonathan; sisters, Barbara (Bob) and Nancy; brothers-in-law, Ed and Greg (Sandy). He is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, including special cousin-in- law, Marilyn (Doug) and family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Donna and Bette; and sister-in-law, Nancy.

A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2016, at Swedberg-Zastrow Funeral Home in Cecil with the Rev. Skip Robertson officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Shawano American Legion Post 117. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
