Ronald O. Robaidek

Ronald O. Robaidek, 77, Angelica. He died.

This is what Ron would have told you he wanted for his obituary. He felt he was “a man of few words.” However, anyone who knew him knew otherwise. Ron died peacefully on Oct. 15, 2016, surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home. The son of the late Virgilla and Julius Robaidek was born on Feb. 28, 1939, in Angelica.

Ron graduated from Pulaski High School in 1956. On June 17, 1961, he married Janice VanLannen. A wonderful marriage began that day. Two beautiful people joined as one who worked together to make living fun; two partners in life in both work and play. The couple raised their family, ran a dairy farm, and owned a farm equipment and silo business, Robaidek Silo Inc. He was a Jamesway dealer and won several awards for his sales achievements and his contributions to the agricultural industry. Ron sold the business and retired in 2004.

Ron enjoyed visiting friends from all parts of the country. He loved to talk about politics, religion and business. He would often break into song and always had a clever comment. Although he battled years of health problems after falling 62 feet off a silo in 1968, and being in a car accident in 1997, he always kept his sense of humor and continued his love of going to the casino and auctions, and dining out with family and friends.

From a young age, Ron was a hardworking man who made a living trying to help fellow farmers be successful. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Bishop Bona Council 4439, the Holy Name Society and a committed parishioner at Assumption B.V.M. Parish.

Ron loved his family and enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow while instilling in them the value of hard work by giving them projects to do around the house and pond.

Survivors include, his wife, Janice; five sons and one daughter, Russell (Kris), Rick (special friend Tina), Rocky (Karen), Randy (Chris), Jay (Heather) and Shelly (Nick) Kottke; 17 grandchildren, Brooke (special friend Tommy), Beth (Josh), Bryce, Jennifer (Jimmy), Joe, Dalton, Brandon, Preston, Carson, Katlynn, Brock, Allaina, Griffin, Gatlin, Gabriella, Kelly and Kutter; five great-grandchildren; five sisters and one brother, Carol VanLannen, Joan Schulke, Mary (Daniel) Woehrer, Jane Robaidek, Jean Robaidek and Donald (Donna) Robaidek. He was also survived by other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgilla and Julius Robaidek; Janice’s parents, Viola and Norbert VanLannen; an infant sister, Connie; and in-laws, Roger VanLannen and Orville Schulke.

Friends may call at Assumption B.V.M. Church, 119 E. Pulaski St., Pulaski, from 4-8 p.m. Friday with a closing Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. The visitation continues after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Patrick Gawrylewski, O.F.M., presiding and the Rev. James Esser, O.F.M., concelebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

The family would like to say a special thank you to all his caregivers from Unity Hospice and his friends and neighbors who provided comfort in his last days. Thanks for the memories.
