Ailie H. Oberg

Ailie H. Oberg, 96, of Shawano, entered her heavenly home early Monday morning, Sept, 26, 2016, with her loving family by her side.

Ailie was born on July 9, 1920, in the town of Brule, Douglas County, a daughter of the late Andrew and Hilma (Soderbakka) Korhonen. She attended country schools.

On July 14, 1938, Ailie was united in marriage to Willard Oberg in Ironwood, Michigan. Following their marriage the couple lived and farmed in the town of Cloverland.

Ailie moved to Shawano in 1987. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. She enjoyed crafting, playing cards with her friends at Elizabeth Manor, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her two daughters, Beverly (Patrick) Klopotek Fenelon, of Shawano, and Bernice (Larry) Babbitt, of Roscoe, Illinois; four grandchildren, Debbie (Steve) Rasmussen, Daniel (Kristine) Klopotek, Cathie (Gordy) Gotsch and Mark (Stacey) Babbitt; eight great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services for Ailie H. Oberg will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at 11 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Pastor Ted Andrada will officiate. Interment will take place in the Everest Cemetery in Douglas County at a later date. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.

Mary K. Wayka

Mary K. Wayka, 68, of Keshena, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016, in Wausau with her family by her side.

Mary was born on Oct. 15, 1947, in Keshena, a daughter of the late Ralph and Margaret (Penass) Richmond. She attended Shawano schools, graduating from Shawano High School in 1965. Following high school she attended technical school in Antigo, and later Bacone College in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Mary then returned to Keshena and was employed as an administrative assistant in the law enforcement field. On Feb. 27, 1982, Mary was united in marriage to James Wayka at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Keshena. Following their marriage the couple resided in Keshena. James preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 2014.

Mary was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Keshena. She was a member of the Menominee Indian School District Board of Education for 18 years and served on various tribal committees.

Mary’s family meant the world to her. She had many friends and colleagues that she had met through the years. She was currently lobbying in Washington, D.C., for the Menominee Indian School District. Her passion was helping young children and the elderly. Mary was also a loyal Packers fan.

Survivors include Mary’s three children, James (Ann Marie) Wayka III, of Green Bay, Christopher “Buzz” Wayka, of Keshena, and Paul (Stephanie) Wayka, of Keshena; nine grandchildren, Romar, Adrian, Matthew, Alonzo, Tara Leigh, Tavaeh, Christopher, Laviah and Maddison Rose; two sisters, Annette Richmond, of Keshena, and Geradette (Wendall Pamaska) Richmond, of Neopit; her special nephews, Corey and Craig Richmond; her special stepson, Al Waukau; her very dear friend, Ed Krueger; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

A Funeral Mass for Mary K. Wayka will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016, at 1 p.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Keshena. The Rev. Joel Jores will be the celebrant. Interment will be at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Keshena. Relatives and friends may call at the Father David Barrett Hall at St. Michael’s Catholic Church until the time of Mass on Wednesday.

Patricia B. Arvold

Patricia Bowditch Arvold, 94, of Shawano, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, at her home.

Patricia was born on April 8, 1922, in Rogers Park, Illinois, the daughter of the late Harvey and Mae (Gordon) Bowditch. Pat earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin. On Aug. 12, 1944, she was united in marriage to David Schewe Arvold in Madison.

Pat and Dave moved to Shawano in 1947. Pat enjoyed reading a good book, playing bridge, golfing and spending time at the family cottage in Hazelhurst. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family.

Patricia is survived by her husband, David; their children, David (Judith) Arvold Jr., M.D., of Duluth, Minnesota, Katherine (Tom) Lonsdale, of San Antonio, Texas, Mary Ellen (David Haas) Arvold, of Juneau, Alaska, and Patricia (John) Nyman, of Shoreview, Minnesota; nine grandchildren, Virginia (John Dick) Arvold, Nils (Lisa) Arvold, Thomas (Heather) Lonsdale, Jeffrey (Ellen) Lonsdale, Patrick (Leslie) Lonsdale, Jacob Haas, Emily Nyman, Tanning Nyman and Louisa Nyman; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Patricia was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Elizabeth Arvold Haas; her parents; and one brother, Robert Bowditch.

A memorial service for Pat will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at First Presbyterian Church in Shawano with the Rev. Susan Phillips officiating. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016, from 4-7 p.m. and again at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Violett S. Busch

Violett Sylvia Busch, 93, of Shawano, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016, in Appleton. Born on June 3, 1923, in Oconto County, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Saraphine (Ratz) Eggert.

On Aug. 15, 1942, Violett was united in marriage to Martin Busch at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel. Martin preceded her in death on April 28, 2013. They farmed near Bonduel for over 30 years before moving to Shawano in 1970.

Violett was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. In her free time, she enjoyed shopping.

Violett is survived by her three daughters, Dianne (Bob) Zuehlsdorf, of Appleton, Donna (Edward) Sanders, of Oklahoma, and JoAnn (Mark) Bergsbaken, of Milton; seven grandchildren, Katie (David) Wroblewski, Andrew Zuehlsdorf, Craig (Shirree) Sanders, Scott Sanders, Lacy (Jason) Edwards, Chad (Erica) Bergsbaken and Aaron Bergsbaken; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenny (Mavis) Eggert, of Green Valley; and one sister, Magdalene Heuer, of Fond du Lac.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin; one brother, Donald (Shirley) Eggert, and three sisters, Altibel Reinke, Arthea (Leonard) Bonnin and Audrey (Luther) Busch.

Funeral services for Violett will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano with the Rev. Ted Andrada officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held at church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Roberta Wendt-Machek

Roberta “Bobbie” Wendt-Machek, of Bonduel, passed away on Sept. 29, 2016, surrounded by her family and special friends, Connie, Diane and Muffy. She was born on Jan. 20, 1966, to Robert and Nancy (Theis) Wendt Jr.

Bobbie graduated from Bonduel High School, Class of 1984. After high school, she attended NWTC, graduating with a degree as a hospital unit coordinator, a career she worked at for over 28 years at Shawano Medical Center, before retiring in 2013 due to health reasons.

On Sept. 30, 2011, Bobbie was united in marriage to John Machek in Green Bay. She lived all her life in Bonduel, with the last couple of years in her dream home that she and John designed. After attending classes at St. Norbert College, Bobbie became a certified travel agent. She loved traveling and planned many wonderful trips with her mom.

Bobbie was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Bonduel and the National Association of Health Unit Coordinators. She was also an avid stamper, creating many greeting cards, and enjoyed spending time with her cat, Jack, and her sister, Shelly, whenever she could visit.

Bobbie is survived by her husband, John; her parents, Robert and Nancy Wendt, of Bonduel; one sister, Shelly (Mike) Stoughton, of Florida; and two brothers, Todd (Sue) Wendt, of Green Bay, and Brad Wendt, of Bonduel; her niece and nephew, Amanda Wendt and Greg Stoughton. She is further survived by her in-laws, John (Carole) Machek, of Wausau; mother-in-law, Alice Kraft, of Arizona; and sister-in-law, Julie Byre, of Green Bay; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and many special friends.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at Zion United Methodist Church in Bonduel with Pastor Charles Wendt officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the services.

Sandra J. Polzin

Sandra J. “Sandy” Polzin, 79, of Clintonville, passed away on Monday, Sept. 26, 2016.

Sandy was born on Dec. 31, 1936, in the town of Grant, Shawano County, a daughter of the late Raymond and Celia (Kleman) Peterman. She attended Marion High School, graduating in 1954.

On Oct. 6, 1956, Sandy was united in marriage to Harold Polzin in Caroline. Following their marriage the couple lived in Marion, then moved to Cloverleaf Lakes, where together they owned and operated Polzin’s Electrical & Heating Service. Sandy was active in the business until her death.

She was a member of Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville. She also served for eight years on the Shawano County Board of Supervisors.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 60 years, Harold, of Cloverleaf Lakes; her children, Raymond (Barbara) Polzin, of Clintonville, and Cindy Lou Polzin, of Marion; two grandchildren, Justin (Amanda) Polzin and Tara Polzin; three great-grandchildren, Aaralyn, Brietta and Marleigh; and her sister, Judith Ann Ziesemer, of Neenah.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, William Ziesemer.

In keeping with her wishes, private family services were held for Sandra J. Polzin.

Curtis H. Schneider

Curtis H. Schneider, 87, of Bonduel, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016. Born on Feb. 15, 1929, in Shawano, he was the son of the late Elmer and Viola (Drage) Schneider.

Curtis graduated from Bonduel High School in 1946. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1956 and served his country honorably until his discharge in 1958. On June 28, 1959, he was united in marriage to Corinne D. Groth in Hardwick, Minnesota. Corinne preceded him in death on Feb. 9, 2009.

Curtis worked as a dairy farmer for many years, then spent time working for Farmer’s Implement and Graf Creamery before starting Schneider Sharpening in 1992. He was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel, where he served as a trustee, as congregational chairman, as a member of the Northern Wisconsin District Board, sang in the church choir and was a member of the Men’s Club.

Curtis also served on the Shawano Airport Commission, the Equity Oil Board, the Holstein Friesian Board and on the Maple Lane board of directors.

Curt loved to sing and sung in several barbershop quartets and barbershop groups. In his free time, he enjoyed photography, traveling with his wife and listening to barbershop music. His biggest passion was for flying and anything to do with planes.

Curtis is survived by three children, Janet (Charles) Yardley, of Elmhurst, Illinois, Judith (Chris) Rank, of Cecil, and Andrew (Deb) Schneider, of Shawano; two grandchildren, Lucas (Karen) Rank, currently in Bangladesh, and Peri Rank, of Cecil; as well as a sister, Dorothy Krull, of Bonduel.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Corinne, and his parents.

A funeral service for Curtis will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel with the Rev. Timothy Shoup and the Rev. Mark Palmer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.

Lloyd H. Schmidt

Lloyd H. Schmidt, 81, of the town of Herman, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016.

Lloyd was born on Dec. 1, 1934, on the home farm in the town of Herman, the son of the late Henry and Alvina (Schwartz) Schmidt.

On Oct. 11, 1952, Lloyd was united in marriage to Marlene C. Kuehn in Menominee, Michigan. She preceded him in death on Jan. 11, 1999. He farmed in the town of Herman for many years and worked for Ace Farm and Home in Shawano.

Lloyd was a member of Elias Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and was the sexton for the Elias Cemetery. He was a member of Equity Co-op Lynhurst Association. He enjoyed playing cards, deer hunting, and fishing. More than anything, Lloyd loved spending time with his family.

Lloyd is survived by his son, Steve (Pam) Schmidt, of Marshfield; one son-in-law, Richard Paisar, of Marion; four grandchildren, Melissa (Joey Jueds) Paisar, of Marion, Melanie (Pat) Mauss, of New Albin, Iowa, Matthew (Erin) Schmidt, of Starbuck, Minnesota, and Andrea (Shawn) Nelson, of Mauston; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene, and his daughter, Susan.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at Elias Lutheran Church in the town of Herman with Lay Pastor Lois Graper officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, from 4-8 p.m. and again at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Kimberly J. Gandt

Kimberly Jane Gandt, 39, daughter of Herman and Wendy Gandt, of Gillett, lost her struggle with juvenile diabetes on the evening of Oct. 1, 2016.

She is survived by her most precious gifts, Courtney R. Craddock and Benjamin J. Scheibe. Her children were the light of her life. Kim is also survived by her parents; her sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Jayme Kopp, and their children, Sydnie C. Kopp and Hunter J. Kopp; her great-grandmother, Jane Werner; her fiancé, Joe Zilowske, and his family; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins — too many to name.

Kim enjoyed riding motorcycles, volunteering for the fire department and playing games with her family. Even through her struggles with her health, she always had a smile and an encouraging word for those around her.

Kim has joined her grandparents, Herman and LaVerne Gandt, and Douglas and Betty Jo Werner; her godfather, Larry Gandt; her aunt, Judy Gandt; and her uncles, Marvin Schelk and Allen Raddant.

Funeral service for Kim will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, at Swedberg-Wendt Funeral Home in Bonduel with the Rev. Scott Ludford officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

Leroy W. Chapman

Leroy W. Chapman, 94, of West Bend, entered eternal life on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016.

He was born on Aug. 18, 1922, to the late Henry and Minnie (nee Meyer) Chapman in Waldo. Leroy’s family moved to West Bend, where he attended school. He graduated from West Bend High School, where he excelled in sports. After graduation he entered the U.S. Army, serving tours in the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign with the 40th Engineers. Leroy received numerous service commendations, including a Silver Star, Bronze Star and Bronze Arrow.

Leroy worked in manufacturing most of his adult life. He retired from Weasler Manufacturing Company. He was a tool and die maker by trade.

He and his wife, Charlotte, enjoyed the years they wintered in Arizona and the time spent at their lake home in Shawano. Leroy was a loving grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved to read, golf and follow his favorite teams on TV, especially the Brewers and Packers.

Those Leroy leave behind to cherish his memory include his three children, Donna (Peter) Heffington, of Shawano, Tom (Christine) Chapman, of Daphne, Alabama, and Chuck (Jennifer) Chapman, of West Bend; a daughter-in-law, Susan Chapman, of Menomonee Falls; eight grandchildren, Tory (Carrie) Wiedmeyer-Olson, Dr. Terry (Michele) Olson, Dr. Jeremy (Caitlin) Chapman, Katy (Jason) Chapman-LaBret, Andrea Krebs, Clayton Chapman, Staci (Adam) Gruse and Annie (Alex) Silvia; nine great-grandchildren, Allyson, Ryan, Aaron, Tyler, Macey, Rece, Charlotte, Everly and Caroline; two brothers, Clarence Chapman and Raymond Chapmen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Steven Chapmen; two sisters, Lavern (Chuck) Heiting and Lucille Chapman; and five brothers, Milford Chapman, Elmer (Clara) Chapman, Eugene (Evelyn) Chapman, Jerry (Dolores) Chapman and Richard Chapman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, at 4 p.m. at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Church, 1610 Monroe St., West Bend. The family will greet family and friends at the church on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will be in St. Martin’s Cemetery in Cecil.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Lighthouse for caring for him these past several years and also the wonderful doctors and nurses at St. Joseph’s Hospital who made his last two weeks easier for both he and his family.

Robert G. Gipp

Robert G. Gipp, 84, Wittenberg, died on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016, at his home under the care of his family and Ministry Hospice. He was born on Feb. 21, 1932, in Suring, the son of the late Adolph and Helen (Schroeder) Gipp.

On Aug. 25, 1951, Robert was united in marriage to Phyllis Raddant at St. James Lutheran Church, Shawano. She survives.

Robert was a supervisor at Outboard Marine Corporation, Milwaukee, for many years until his retirement in 1983. The couple then moved to Shawano Lake for five years until building a house on their land in the town of Birnamwood, where they currently reside.

Robert formerly served on the Birnamwood Town Board, the Homme Home of Wittenberg board of directors and was instrumental in forming the annual Homme golf outing. He was very active and held many leadership roles in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, the Lutheran Church Extension Fund and Concordia University, Mequon.

Robert was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed making wood, hunting, fishing and operating a maple syrup business, tapping thousands of trees.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; three children, Glenn Gipp, Milwaukee, Cynthia (Paul) Lawonn, Brookfield, and Kathryn (Gregory) Jasinski, New Berlin; grandchildren, Daniel (Camille) Lawonn, Laura Lawonn, Dr. Andrew (Katie) Jasinski and Samantha Jasinski; and great-grandchildren, Anne and Lillian Jasinski, and Selby and Margot Lawonn.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Elder, Lorraine Shultz and Norman.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, at Zion Lutheran Church, Eland. The Rev. Clifford Kessen will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Shawano. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg, and again on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Mildred B. Kraft

Mildred B. Kraft, 88, Wittenberg, died on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016, at the Homme Home of Wittenberg under the care of Asera Care Hospice.

She was born on June 24, 1928, in Tigerton, the daughter of the late Glen and Bertha (Erickson) Klund.

On Oct. 18, 1947, Mildred was united in marriage to Roy Kraft at Immanuel Lutheran Church, town of Morris. He preceded her in death on Sept. 1, 2010.

Mildred worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Luke’s Hospital, Milwaukee, and also worked in the cafeteria for the Milwaukee Public School District for many years. Roy and Mildred moved north in 1984.

Mildred was known as an excellent cook and baker. She enjoyed golfing, painting, rosemaling and her card clubs. Mildred was proud of her Norwegian heritage and traveled to Norway several times.

Survivors include two children, Lawrence (Mary) Kraft, Thiensville, and Sharon (Steve Kucharski) Kraft, Milwaukee; three grandchildren, Jennifer Gindt, David (Carly) Kraft and Catherine Kraft ; four great-grandchildren, Isla and Harper Kraft and Lauren and Daphne Zupke; and three siblings, Harold Klund, Gresham, Betty Ohlemiller, Burnett, and Alton Klund, Milwaukee.

Mildred was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda; her parents; husband; and one brother, Arnold.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, town of Morris. The Rev. John Hielsberg will officiate. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Isabelle V. Horton

Isabelle “Tippy” V. Horton, 92, of Keshena, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016.

Isabelle was born on May 9, 1924, in Shawano, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mathilda (Kinepoway) Sackatook. On Oct. 4, 1947, she was united in marriage to Ernest E. “Jack” Horton. He preceded her in death on Sept. 16, 2000.

Isabelle worked for the federal government for 30 years, retiring in 1991. In 2001, she returned to Keshena.

Isabelle is survived by her children, Carol (David) Armstrong and James (Lucy) Horton, all of Keshena, and her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her parents; and one sister, Kathryn Walton.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Keshena with Deacon Jim Lonick officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of the Woods in West Branch. Visitation will be held at the Armstrong residence, N1995 Morning Star Road, in Keshena, until the procession leaves for the church on Wednesday.

Joyce M. Feinen

Joyce Marie Feinen, 84, of Shawano, passed away on Sept. 30, 2016, surrounded by her family. Born on July 16, 1932, in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of the late Lottie Buehl and Raymond Pomeroy.

Joyce was united in marriage to Robert W. “Bob” Feinen on June 19, 1970. The couple has called Shawano their home since 1972 and are members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Bob; children, Linda K. Tuttolomondo, Melanie L. Phillips, Joseph A. (Elaine) Tuttolomondo, Robert W. (Shari) Feinen Jr., Michael F. Feinen and Sally A. (Wendy J.) Feinen; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Luke Ferris officiating. Entombment will be in Sacred Heart Mausoleum. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services.

Elsa M. Laabs-Kosbab

Elsa Mae Laabs-Kosbab, 70, passed away on Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, in Wausau.

Elsa was born on Dec. 7, 1945, the daughter of the late Gerald “Jim Bear” Tousey and Fae Joyce Church. On Aug. 29, Elsa was united in marriage to Arnold Kosbab at the Lutheran Church of the Wilderness. She enjoyed gardening and loved living on the Stockbridge-Munsee Reservation.

Elsa is survived by her husband, Arnold; children, Ginger Stevens, Scott (Sandra) Stevens, Brian Stevens, Shawn (Lori) Stevens, Scott (Tanya) Kosbab, Christopher (Vicki) Stevens, Tsilos “Lucy” (Chaz) Kosbab, Tammy (Steve) Kosbab, Arnold Kosbab II, Elisa Kosbab, Wanonah (Johnny) Spencer and Jerusha “Sarah” (Josh) Kosbab; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Carl Church; as well as numerous other relatives and good friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Gary Stevens, and her parents.

A funeral service for Elsa will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, at Assembly of God Church in Morgan Siding with Pastor Rodger Cree officiating. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Gresham on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, from 4-7 p.m. and again on Friday at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the services.

Leticia Hernandez

Leticia “Lippy” Hernandez, 52, of Green Bay, formerly of Keshena, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016.

Leticia was born on Feb. 24, 1964, in Shawano, the daughter of the late Venito P. and Edwardien (Winnishiek) Hernandez. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Theodore “Jesse” and Cynthian Gauthier, in Keshena.

Leticia lived in Oklahoma for 10 years before returning the Shawano and Green Bay area. She enjoyed playing bingo, riding in the woods and spending time with her dog and cat. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Leticia is survived by her lifelong companion, Jose Torres; five children, Sergio (Sara LeMay) Verhagen, Nicholas Verhagen, Hope Verhagen, Jerred (Brandi Beauprey) Menchaca and Enrico Menchaca; three grandchildren, DeJa LeMay, Lilliana Arcand and Seneca Beauprey; one brother, John Garcia; and two sisters, Lydia Garcia and Alisha Hernandez; special family friend Gloria Menchaca; and other family members and friends.

Leticia was preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony Hernandez and Venito “Ben Ben” Hernandez.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, at the Garcia residence, W650 Redwing Way, in Keshena. Visitation will be held at the Garcia residence until the time of the services.

Deborah A. Zdiarstek

Deborah Ann Zdiarstek, 63, of Shawano, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, in Shawano. Born on Sept. 21, 1953, in Cook County, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Catherine (Romanek) Gierut.

On April 12, 1980, Deborah was united in marriage to Dennis “Sparky” Zdiarstek in Shawano. She lived all her married life in Shawano and worked at Wisconsin Finance, ALPHA for 20 years and Shawano County for 16 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Shawano Civil Air Patrol.

Deborah enjoyed spending time with her dog, BJ.

Deborah is survived by her husband, Dennis; brother, Gary (Laura) Gierut, of Oaklawn, Illinois; two sisters, Sheila Norton, of Worth, Illinois, and Linda Gierut, of Allsip, Illinois; and sister-in-law, Helen (Jim) Karcz, of Shawano. She is further survived by three nieces, Liza, Alisha and Katie; two grandnephews, Oliver and Aiden; and one grandniece, Aubrey.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano with the Rev. Luke Ferris officiating. Burial will be in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in the town of Waukechon. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Friday from 4-7 p.m. and again on Saturday at the church after 10 a.m. until the time of the services.

Memorials in Deborah’s name may be directed to Shawano County Humane Society.
